Whilst driving down the coast of Namibia I came across Wlotzkasbaken – a weird little town with nobody in it. Seriously, there was not one person there. Each oddly built house had it’s own water reservoir, no walls to separate each property and most were boarded up. Pretty interesting and unusually delightful little spot with a hint of controversy surrounding it.
When you feel there is a giant rock with a skull face watching you, or you have just been in a remote land for too long.

I recently did a trip to Namibia and I have to say that country blew me away. There is so much diversity in the landscapes it feels like you on opposite sides of the world at times. I thought it would be appropriate to show all the different landscapes, vegetation and empty spaces I came across in this seemingly endless country with hardly anyone in it – I think the total population is somewhere around 2 million people as opposed to South Africa having about 50 million.
I was recently asked by the guys at WorkingClass to do a print for a publication/exhibition named ‘Locals Only’ where 6 artists/designers from the three main cities in South Africa (DBN, JHB & CT) were assigned to do an artwork on their city, each area using a specific colour scheme. Hats off to the guys for organizing a great evening and publication.
I’ll be speaking at PechaKucha Durban this Thursday evening so pull in for a drink and some banter. See you there!

We are now the owners of this rad embroidery piece by our good friend Elizabeth-Ann Ross (AKA The Sailing Bear) which she did for the ‘Buy Art Not Drugs’ exhibition at Upstairs. Thanks Liz!
Happy to say my better half is finally back from a long stint in Oz. Polaroid was taken by our super talented friend Rochelle Phipson.
I said goodbye to my first car. Go well Old Faithful, you did good.
I clearly like the birds in my garden. My father is a bird-watcher so as you can imagine I’ve grown up looking at birds my whole life. I enjoy drawing animals and all that in my spare time where there doesn’t have to be any thought behind it - I just let my hand go. It’s like a form of meditation… or you could say that it gives me an opportunity to play around with different materials, techniques and all that. Whatever floats your boat.
